Self-Treatment Is Becoming More Popular

Shorter hospital stays are providing greater opportunities to offer effective products for the follow-up treatment. With the increasing awareness among consumers regarding advantages of home healthcare, more and more people choose to leave the hospital environment early and spend their recovery time at home. Services that earlier were available in hospitals are now provided at home. In the US alone over 19,000 providers offer healthcare to more than seven million people who require such services owing to illness, long-term health conditions, permanent disability or terminal illness.

An important factor fueling the use of first aid kits is Internet services. Through the Internet, consumers are offered a plethora or information related to self-treatment. Managed care organizations are looking at first aid kits, too. In order to provide consumers a quality, cost-effective, continuum of care, managed care organizations are making efforts to enter into contracts or develop links with home care agencies that are highly placed, which are thereby becoming additional potential clients for the first aid kit suppliers.

In certain countries, first aid kits are compulsory equipment for all motor vehicles, as are for example a spare tire and a reflective triangle. They may need to be carried in all public and commercial vehicles, such as taxis, buses and trucks. First aid kits may also be mandatory in a number of additional settings and facilities:

  • Governmental institutions and offices (including schools).
  • Industrial and commercial buildings.
  • Agriculture.
  • Military.
  • Private use: travel, sports, etc.
  • Emergency medical services and hospitals.
  • Other public and private transportation.
